The New York Jets have one of the NFL’s most promising young rosters, and a big reason why is defensive tackle Quinnen Williams.
He had 12.0 sacks, 28 quarterback hits, and 12 tackles for loss in a breakout season that saw him get named to both the Pro Bowl and the All-Pro first-team.
Williams helped the Jets finish fourth in both points allowed and total yards given up during the 2022 season.
However, he is waiting for a big contract extension, and ESPN’s Rich Cimini implied that Williams could be nearing a big payday after fellow DT Jeffery Simmons got a four-year contract extension from the Tennessee Titans.

Unlike Williams, Simmons has never been named to the All-Pro first-team.
This offseason, a few other stud defensive tackles have received big contracts, such as Javon Hargrave, who hopped from the Philadelphia Eagles to the San Francisco 49ers for $84 million over the next four years, as well as Dalvin Tomlinson, who got $57 million over four years from the Cleveland Browns.
With a strong defense, the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year in wide receiver Garrett Wilson, and new wideout Allen Lazard, all the Jets seem to need is a high-level quarterback in order to challenge for a playoff spot.
They’re widely expected to land future Hall of Fame signal-caller Aaron Rodgers in a trade with the Green Bay Packers, but negotiations seem to be taking place at a glacial pace.
Once Rodgers makes the move to New York, the AFC will become even more interesting than it was last season.
