The wide receiver position has become increasingly vital in the NFL, due to the pass-friendly nature of the league.

As a result, many teams look to the NFL Draft to find impactful players at the position, which has proven successful over the past several seasons.

Players like Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, and Garrett Wilson have had an instant impact on the league after being drafted in the first round.

Ahead of April’s draft, many analysts have predicted that several receivers will be selected in the first round.

However, in a recent report from Jim Nagy, the director of the Senior Bowl, NFL teams have identified just one standout at the position.

That standout, according to Nagy, is Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

One thing has become clear on calls around league past couple weeks: NFL isn’t nearly as high on this year’s WR class as media.

Frequently seeing 4-5 wideouts in mocks. Have spoken to numerous teams that have only one first round grade at the position. That guy is JSN.

Smith-Njigba only played in three games during the 2022 season, due to a hamstring injury.

However, he had an explosive 2021 season, racking up 95 receptions for 1,606 yards and nine touchdowns.

Smith-Njigba also ran a 4.48 40-yard dash at his Pro Day, which is another reason that teams are impressed with him.

At 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, Smith-Njigba isn’t one of the largest receivers in this year’s class.

If his intangibles are any indication, those measurables shouldn’t matter, given his shiftiness and ability to run routes.

When DeVonta Smith entered the league, there were many concerns about his size and weight, and some doubted his ability to succeed at the highest level.

Smith was able to adapt, and Smith-Njigba should as well, assuming that his pre-draft profile holds up.

Where will Smith-Njigba end up, in what is reported to be a weak wide-receiving class?
