Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa is one of the best players in MLB at his position.

Postseason pedigree, a World Series ring, power, speed, elite defense…he is the complete package.

Unfortunately, he is prone to getting hurt at least a few times every year.

This time, he is reporting a back issue.

“Carlos Correa described this as a middle back issue. Had a back spasm. Previous back issues in his career were lower back. Feels better today. Hopes to be back tomorrow night,” Twins insider Dan Hayes tweeted.

Correa is absent from the Twins’ lineup on Monday due to back tightness.

He was actually in the lineup earlier, but ended up being scratched as the team wants to give him an extra day to rest.

It’s good, at least, that the issue is a middle back one and not on the lower part.

He has missed considerable time in the past with lower back problems.

Correa, perhaps affected by the issue, hasn’t had a great start to the 2023 campaign.

He is hitting .182 with just two runs and two RBI.

He still doesn’t have any home runs or stolen bases.

If he gets 100 percent healthy, both should come eventually.

A free agent in the offseason, he ended up re-signing with the Twins after a couple of failed attempts with the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets,

Both of those deals were worth over $300 million, but were dismissed due to ankle concerns.

The Twins ended up securing his services on a six-year, $200 million deal.

The hope is that the 6-3 Twins can have their star shortstop back to full health in a few days.
