The Carolina Panthers have been quite active this offseason.

After missing the playoffs in each season since 2017, the Panthers needed to make some changes.

They traded for the first-overall pick in the draft, and are looking to draft their next franchise quarterback.

But, they still need to put a good roster together to build around the rookie.

Even though they traded wide receiver D.J. Moore to the Chicago Bears, the Panthers added a few new receiving threats.

Adam Thielen and D.J. Chark agreed to deals with the Panthers this offseason.

Also, Carolina is loaded on defense, as they have a strong core of players led by Brian Burns and Jaycee Horn.

But, they felt like they could add some depth.

According to Around The NFL, the Panthers have signed defensive tackle John Penisini.

The third-year player is no more than a nice depth piece.

For his career, he has one sack, 49 total tackles, and four tackles for loss.

He will be 26 years old at the start of next season, so it will be interesting to see if he can carve out a role in Carolina.

Ultimately, playing in the NFC South gives the Panthers a chance to compete.

That is the worst division in football, and the Panthers might be able to win it with a rookie quarterback.

Carolina has not done much over the past few seasons, but they can break through in 2023.
