Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies was the latest NBA star to get into trouble for his social media activity.
But he certainly wasn’t the first.
In fact, few NBA stars will ever be able to rival Paul Pierce, the former Boston Celtics star and NBA analyst, who was fired from his job at ESPN for creating an infamous live stream.
During the stream, Pierce was seen getting his haircut, smoking marijuana, and receiving a massage from scantily-clad women who were dancing in the background.
Days after the video leaked, Pierce was let go from his position with ESPN.
Speaking with the “I Am Athlete” show, Pierce talked about the entire experience.
“I got fired for having some entertainment. What did I do wrong?” Pierce said.

While he seems disappointed to lose his job analyzing games, Pierce also sounds understanding of the decision made by ESPN.
He noted that everything he did was totally legal – including the marijuana because he was in California at the time.
But he also said that ESPN is owned by Disney and they have a morality clause in their contracts and Pierce violated it.
Pierce joined ESPN as a studio analyst for “The Jump” and “NBA Countdown” in August of 2017.
He was a guest analyst during the highly-anticipated 2016 and 2017 NBA Finals for the network and quickly become a very crucial and intelligent part of the crew.
But then his Instagram Live video came on April 2, 2021, and he was let go by the network just days later on April 5.
Since then, fans haven’t seen Pierce on television as much but it seems like he doesn’t have many hard feelings about his parting of the ways with ESPN.
