Things seem to be getting progressively worse for the Dallas Mavericks after the team failed to make the NBA playoffs this season.
As if missing the postseason after making a blockbuster trade for Kyrie Irving before the NBA trade deadline in February wasn’t bad enough, the NBA seems to have the Mavericks in its crosshairs after some questionable moves by the team.
The league isn’t happy with Mark Cuban and his struggling franchise, with ESPN’s Tim Bontemps via NBA Central reporting that the NBA is embarrassed by the actions of the Mavericks to close the season.

The league didn’t take it lightly when the Mavericks played superstar Luka Doncic for only 13 minutes in the team’s season finale after officially being knocked out of playoff contention.
The team also rested all of its best players, including Irving, which Doncic wasn’t happy about, as he expressed in his postgame presser.
Fortunately for Dallas, Doncic refuted a report that he might seek to be traded in the future.
Doncic’s future is crucial for the team’s success in the years to come and will definitely impact Irving’s decision when he hits NBA free agency this summer.
As for the NBA, it’ll be interesting to see what the league decides to do in terms of disciplining the Mavericks for the team’s actions to finish the season, as it appears the team cared more about their position in the upcoming 2023 NBA Draft than winning its final game.
Only time will tell, but it would be safe to assume the league will try to make an example of the Mavericks.
