It’s official: the Minnesota Timberwolves will be in Tuesday’s play-in game against the Los Angeles Lakers but they will do so without one of their biggest stars.

Rudy Gobert has been suspended by his team after punching Kyle Anderson on the sidelines of Sunday night’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans.

The loss of Gobert will hurt because he is one of the most talked-about big men in the league.

But does he really help with wins?

StatMuse dug up an interesting fact: the Timberwolves’ win percentage without Gobert is .667 while their percentage with him is .486.

It is important to note that many of Minnesota’s wins without Gobert were when Naz Reid was healthy and playing.

Sadly, he will be out on Tuesday too because of a season-ending injury.

Still, this statistic is welcomed by worried T-Wolves fans.

It means that they still have a chance to take down the Lakers on Tuesday, even without Gobert on board.

However, the team will also be lacking Jaden McDaniels, who ended his season early on Sunday when he punched a wall and fractured his hand.

This will be a painfully short-staffed Timberwolves squad.

For some, this Gobert information is all the evidence needed to proclaim that the trade for Gobert was a big mistake.

In order to land the French center, the Timberwolves had to part ways with multiple stars and draft picks.

Was it worth it?

The Timberwolves could win this week and enter the playoffs and Gobert could come back, redeem himself, and be a hugely vital part of any success.

If not, this statistic will stand out even more.
