Now that their season is over, the Portland Trail Blazers have a lot of thinking to do.
The team’s front office will need to decide their next steps.
Will they build a stronger team around Damian Lillard, or let him toy with the idea of being traded?
It feels like they have been in that predicament again and again over the years.
The Athletic is reporting, via NBACentral, that the Blazers will likely trade their upcoming lottery pick unless they land the number one position.

Their draft pick, which will probably be in the top five, could garner them a few players from around the league who could assist Lillard.
However, there were many Blazers fans disappointed with this rumor.
They wish that the team would try something different to get better.
That includes trading away Lillard.
this is a huge mistake, a top 5 pick could give them a future star to build around together with the young guys they already have, they should just trade dame and get some picks and atop wasting their and dames time

Other fans were already dreaming up trade scenarios that would say goodbye to Lillard but bring in a few top-tier stars.
Evan Fournier, RJ Barrett, and Obi Toppin from the New York Knicks are trade targets to some fans.

Surprisingly, there were many people pleading with the Blazers to take the plunge and part ways with the ever-loyal Lillard.
Just rebuild, even if dame wants to stay trade him anyway he’s eating cap space and isn’t a #1 option. They’ve been in a drought even longer than the Sixers.

There is no doubt that trading Lillard would give the Blazers many options.
But it sounds like they will use the draft pick as a way to acquire more talent and keep him happy – and at home – in Portland.
