The Milwaukee Bucks just had the best record in the regular season, yet no one seems to be talking about them as NBA championship contenders.
They did that with Khris Middleton struggling and going in and out of the lineup, and most of that had to do with Giannis Antetokounmpo’s stellar play.
The Greek Freak continued to post his video-game numbers, but people don’t seem surprised about that anymore.
The sole fact that he’s not the leading MVP candidate despite those averages and his team’s record is just baffling.
That’s why former NBA player JJ Redick believes that he could be the player who benefits the most, legacy-wise, from winning the NBA championship this season.
Per Redick, Giannis would already cement himself as one of the greatest players to ever do it at the ripe age of 28 years old, as he’d join an elite list of just six players that won multiple rings and Finals MVPs:
“This cements Giannis as one of the all-time greats at the age of 28 years old,” Redick said on “First Take”.

For those who don’t know, the list consists of Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Tim Duncan, LeBron James, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird.
So, yeah, that’s some pretty elite company he’d be on.
Giannis has already put together one of the most impressive résumés in basketball history.
He’s often overlooked, and his name isn’t mentioned when talking about the best players in the league, maybe because his game isn’t flashy.
But he’s the best two-way player among all MVP candidates this season, and you don’t want to come across him come playoff time.
