The Chicago White Sox are off to a bit of a tough start this season.
Through their first 11 games, they own a record of 5-6 and sit two games out of first place in the American League Central.
They defeated the Minnesota Twins on Monday, but were forced to finish the game without star shortstop Tim Anderson, who departed with an apparent knee injury.
Anderson was covering third base when the White Sox had Matt Wallner in a rundown.
When Wallner slid into third, he clipped Anderson’s knee.
On Tuesday, the White Sox made an unfortunate announcement about Anderson and his status.
The team announced that Anderson would be placed on the 10-day injured list with a sprained left knee.

In a corresponding move, the White Sox have recalled infielder Lenyn Sosa from Triple-A Charlotte.
In a follow-up tweet, the White Sox also announced that Anderson would be out for 2-4 weeks.
This is a tough blow for the White Sox, who are already off to a tough start this season.
Fortunately, they remain close in the AL Central, but with Anderson down, the team will have to find a temporary replacement at shortstop from within the organization.
The White Sox were busy over the winter, signing some key pieces in right-hander Mike Clevinger and outfielder Andrew Benintendi on the heels of a disappointing finish in 2022.
Upon Anderson’s exit, Romy Gonzalez entered the game to play second base and veteran Elvis Andrus was shifted from second base over to the shortstop position.
