The Kansas City Chiefs usually do not spend much money on skill players.
Instead, they draft very well and find some bargains on the open market when they become available.
That has once again been the case for the Chiefs this offseason.
They are adding more speed to their offense by signing former Giants wide receiver Richie James.
According to Ari Meirov, the Chiefs have agreed to a one-year deal with James.

James had his best season as a wide receiver last year.
Catching passes from Daniel Jones, James had a career-high 57 receptions for 569 yards and four touchdowns.
Part of the reason James had an expanded role was because of the injuries to the Giants’ receivers.
He made the most of the opportunity and now gets to join the reigning Super Bowl champions.
The wide receiver room in Kansas City is full, so James may not play a large role.
Still, he has value on special teams, mostly returning kicks if necessary.
This is not a blockbuster move by any means, but James is a nice depth piece for the defending Super Bowl champs.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes seems to get the best out of the pass catchers he plays with.
We know the Chiefs’ pass offense will be good in 2023, but someone outside of Travis Kelce will have to step up.
Keep an eye on Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore, or James to fill that role.
