Right now, it seems like Philadelphia 76ers superstar big man Joel Embiid is the odds-on favorite to win this season’s MVP award.
He led his team to a 54-28 record in the regular season, which was the third-best mark in both the Eastern Conference and the entire league, and many feel they have a legitimate shot at winning the world championship this year.
For now at least, Embiid has earned another smaller individual honor, as he has been named the Eastern Conference Player of the Month for games that took place in March and April.

It is the third time this season he has won that honor.
Embiid has had the best season of his career by averaging 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.7 blocked shots per game while winning his second-straight scoring title.
He is making the accusations that he was lazy, unmotivated, and out of shape start to seem like a distant memory, as he has blossomed into the best version of himself over the past couple of seasons.
In doing so, he has continued something of a tradition of great Sixers big men that includes Dolph Schayes, Wilt Chamberlain, Moses Malone and Dikembe Mutombo.
Embiid helped the team finish fourth in offensive rating this season, and they will begin what fans hope is a run at the Larry O’Brien Trophy with a first-round playoff date versus the Brooklyn Nets.
If Philly gets past the Nets, they will likely play the Boston Celtics in the second round, which would be the continuation of one of the NBA’s best historic rivalries.
