The Oklahoma City Thunder ended the season for the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night.

With their impressive 123-118 win over the Pels, the Thunder reminded fans across the NBA that they are one of the teams to watch.

They are young, smart, and only getting better.

Skip Bayless believes they could go all the way within the next few years.

Hopping on Twitter following OKC’s big win, Bayless laid out his prediction:

“SGA is a superstar. Giddey at 6-8 is a taller Austin Reaves. Dort is a defensive force. Chet Holmgren will give OKC a legit shot-blocker and stretch 5. 15 first-round picks next 5 years. Terrific young coach. Yes, I can see a championship in OKC’s future.”

If you watched Wednesday’s game then you’ll have a hard time disagreeing with anything Bayless said.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander performed incredibly well with 32 points, while Josh Giddey had a career night with 31 points of his own as well as 10 assists.

Others like Lu Dort and Jalen Williams also performed incredibly well and the Thunder are just one win away from the eighth seed in the West.

Bayless is also right about another thing: all of the success that Oklahoma City found this season was without their rookie player Chet Holmgren, who is out for the season due to injury.

How much better can they become once he returns next year?

As also noted by Bayless, the team has hold of a slew of great draft picks too, meaning they can either add more young talent or trade those picks away to accumulate players already in the NBA.

It will be some time before the Thunder are able to play for the Larry O’Brien trophy but they are repeatedly showing that they could be one of the most dominant teams in the Association soon.

After a fun, exciting victory on Wednesday night, they are setting their sights on their next opponent: the Minnesota Timberwolves.
