The 2023 MLB regular season is officially two weeks old.
That’s not enough time to draw conclusions, but it’s enough for us to recognize who is hot and who is not.
New York Yankees star Aaron Judge, of course, belongs to the first group.
MLB.com published its most recent hitter power rankings, and he is on top.
Now, power rankings aren’t exclusively about recent form.
They also consider preseason expectations, and come up with the rankings by combining the two factors.
There are hotter players than Judge at the moment, but he just hit 62 home runs last year.
He clearly belongs among the elite, and his current performance cements his place at the very top.

Judge is hitting, as of Friday afternoon, .298/.382/.574 with four home runs, 10 runs scored, and seven RBI.
That’s a bit short of what he did in 2022, but still elite.
Second on the list is Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout.
His on-base skills are the best thing about his slash line: he is hitting .262/.436/.524 with three homers.
Again, there are hotter players than Trout, but he has been so good for so long that second place fits in this case.
Yordan Alvarez and his 16 RBI are third, and Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is fourth with an impressive .412/.492/.549 performance.
Luis Arraez in fifth place proves that hitting home runs isn’t the only path towards offensive production.
He just has one this year, but is hitting .500 in 52 plate appearances for the Miami Marlins, his new team.
Freddie Freeman, Shohei Ohtani, Paul Goldschmidt, the red-hot Matt Chapman, and Adley Rutschman complete the top ten.
