The Atlanta Falcons have made a few key signings this offseason that should improve their team for 2023.

Many of them were on the defensive side of the ball.

The big move made by Atlanta was bringing in safety Jessie Bates.

He was arguably the top safety available and the Falcons improved their secondary with this move.

But some of the other moves they made included defensive line help.

Atlanta signed Calais Campbell and David Onyemata to help out their pass rush.

To continue bolstering their pass rush, the Falcons brought in another big name.

That is former Steelers and Titans edge rusher Bud Dupree.

According to Jeremy Fowler, it appeared that the Steelers were interested in reuniting with Dupree.

But, they could not get the contract to work out.

The Steelers were heavily in the mix on a Bud Dupree deal but Dupree preferred a one-year deal. Steelers prefer two-year deals on contracts of substance. So, Dupree is off to Atlanta, as @ZachKleinWSB said.

Pittsburgh had no interest in giving Dupree a one-year deal, which is why their deal fell through.

Even though Dupree is not the pass rusher he once was, he can still provide value.

One issue with Dupree is that he has not played a full season since 2019.

Injuries have become a big part of his career and they have held him back.

On a one-year deal, the Falcons feel like it is a low-risk, high-reward signing.

Getting after the quarterbacks is one of the most important aspects of a defense.

The new and improved Falcons defense will be looking to cause havoc this year in the NFC South.
