Last year, Charlotte Hornets star Miles Bridges was involved in a domestic violence incident with the mother of his two children, which shed a lot of doubt on his future in the NBA.

Bridges seemed to likely be facing some jail time for the incident but was ultimately given three years of probation instead.

Although it took quite some time, the NBA has disciplined Bridges for his off-the-court incident by suspending him for 30 games, 20 of those games have already been served, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The NBA is suspending Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges for 30 games – with 20 games considered already served, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. So Bridges will serve 10-game suspension for start of 2023-24 season.

The punishment from the league could’ve been much more severe for the 25-year-old, but this was essentially a slap on the wrist with Bridges being able to resume his basketball career next season after missing 10 games left on his suspension.

Bridges could become a hot commodity in NBA free agency this summer if teams are willing to see beyond his off-the-court troubles.

During his NBA career, which has spanned four seasons with the Hornets, Bridges averaged 13.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.

Bridges was coming off an impressive 2021-22 season in Charlotte, with the former first-round draft pick averaging career-high numbers across the board with 20.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game while shooting 59% from the floor.

The Michigan State product quickly became part of a one-two punch with All-Star guard LaMelo Ball in Charlotte, as the two rising stars were helping the struggling franchise become relevant once again.

Only time will tell which teams will show interest in Bridges this summer and whether a long-term future in the league is in the cards for the troubled forward.
