With the Ime Udoka fiasco behind them and the team firing on all cylinders once again this season, the Boston Celtics have their sights set on making another run at the NBA Finals, with a motivated Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown leading the way.
Currently, the Celtics are a legitimate title contender in the Eastern Conference and could give the Milwaukee Bucks a run for their money in a seven-game series if it comes to that.
Unfortunately for Boston, the team could look a bit different next season and for the foreseeable future, regardless of whether they win it all this year.
The reason for a potential change could weigh heavily on if Brown gets voted on one of the three All-NBA teams.
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, if Brown doesn’t get the nod for an All-NBA team, it will make him ineligible for a supermax contract with the Celtics, and therefore he’ll likely become a free agent where he’d test the market.
“If Jaylen gets voted All-NBA he’s going to stay a Celtic. If Jaylen doesn’t get voted All-NBA he’s going to be a free agent”

Despite the team’s success over the past few years, Brown’s future in Boston has always been in question, especially when trade rumors surfaced involving the Celtics trading Brown in exchange for superstar Kevin Durant.
The Durant rumors have ended now that he’s with the Phoenix Suns, but the damage may be done in terms of Brown feeling as though he’s not valued or that he’s the expendable star in Boston every year.
It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out for Brown if he doesn’t make an All-NBA team, as it could be a costly blow for the Celtics this summer.
