The Dallas Mavericks had a terrible 2022-23 NBA season, even failing to make it to the play-in tournament.

After reaching the Western Conference Finals in 2022, the team was a big disappointment.

After losing Jalen Brunson in free agency, things started to go south for the Mavericks.

Not even bringing Kyrie Irving in could change the team’s fate.

After Brunson’s big display for the New York Knicks on Saturday night, Skip Bayless threw shade at the Mavericks’ owner.

MAVS FANS: Would you rather have Kyrie Irving … or Jalen Brunson??? Ask your owner. His fault.

To be fair, Brunson made the decision to leave on his own, even if Mark Cuban insists on blaming the player’s father.

The Mavericks were great when they had Brunson on the court, but he wanted a different challenge.

New York was the place for him, and the fact that his father was there surely helped him.

However, it’s not like the Mavericks had to pick between Brunson and Irving.

They saw an opportunity and took it, landing the former Brooklyn Nets point guard.

As the season unfolded, the Mavericks played worse, ultimately losing their chances to make it to the playoffs.

Kyrie is reportedly their No. 1 target this offseason, but the player could take a different route.

Luka Doncic has stated he’s happy in Dallas and won’t request a trade from the Mavs.

If this partnership fails again, it will be a huge blunder from Cuban and the team’s front office.
