The Philadelphia 76ers have gotten off to a good start in the NBA playoffs.
They are currently up 2-0 over the Brooklyn Nets and are still considered Finals contenders.
Most attention is focused on the amazing MVP-caliber work of Joel Embiid but there are several star players who are making their success possible.
Tyrese Maxey is one of them.
On Monday night, Maxey produced 33 points, going 13-of-23 from the field and leading his team.
All of this is happening as Maxey is on the verge of negotiating a new deal with the team in the summer.
Shams Charania believes Maxey is going to swing for the fences with this new deal.
“He’s clearly emerged as a lead guard on most teams… If I’m him, I might want a max contract this summer,” Charania said on FanDuel TV.

For the season, Maxey has averaged 20.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists on 48.1% from the field.
He has become a starter and a crucial part of the team.
However, as noted by Charania, Maxey has paid his dues and has “taken a backseat” to other players at times as well.
He is a true team player.
The Sixers have a lot of options on their plate right now and there are multiple top-tier athletes they are attempting to hold onto.
Obviously, Embiid sits above the rest but they also want to keep James Harden, Tobias Harris, and others satisfied in the long term.
They may need to start prioritizing which players are the most important for their future plans.
Will Maxey be a part of those plans?
If they see him leading the team in upcoming seasons, they will need to make it worth his time.
That means the Sixers might have to agree to a very hefty sum to keep him on the roster.
