The NFL Draft is soon approaching, and many teams are working to solidify their draft boards.
Throughout the pre-draft process, Jaxon Smith-Njibga has been highly regarded, and seen by many as the best-receiving prospect in the class.
However, a recent article by Peter King suggests that this may no longer be the case.
“I’m hearing some reticence about taking a guy 12th or 18th in the first round when, in a 4.5-month season, he managed to play the equivalent of one football game with a hamstring injury,” said King.
Smith Njigba did suffer a hamstring injury in his final season at Ohio State, which, as King points out, is an area for concern.
Here are several highlights from Smith-Njigba’s time at Ohio State, demonstrating his route-running abilities, and overall skill level.

Over the past several years, NFL teams have developed a propensity to take receivers in the first round, given their immediate impact on the league.
The competition in the NCAA has increased mightily over the years, giving better competition to route runners and defenders alike.
While this has resulted in several first-round draftees, this year’s class could be in for a significant shakeup.
Smith-Njibga may no longer be the consensus front-runner in this class if recent reports are any indication.
Players like Zay Flowers and Quinten Johnston have also been highly-touted, which could result in the downfall of Smith-Njigba.
Ultimately, all of this is highly speculative, and we won’t get additional details until the draft begins on April 27th in Kansas City.
