The Jacksonville Jaguars hope to lock down their tight end of the future this offseason.
Last season, Evan Engram had a career year.
He caught 73 passes for 766 yards and four touchdowns.
Playing with Trevor Lawrence gave Engram a big boost.
But Engram came into this offseason needing a new contract.
After giving Engram the franchise tag, they still hope to sign him to a long-term deal.
According to Pro Football Talk, Jags GM Trent Baalke thinks the Jags are trending towards a long-term deal with Engram.

Lawrence is still a young quarterback and has built a great connection with Engram.
The Jags should not want to disrupt what their offense is becoming by not giving Engram a long-term deal.
Heading into next season the Jags could be serious threats in the AFC.
They made the playoffs last year and even won a playoff game.
Now they added Calvin Ridley to the offense and they are more experienced this year.
There is no question the Jaguars should be back in the playoffs and competing with the top teams.
Engram will make just over $11 million next season on the franchise tag.
So it will be interesting to see what a long-term deal would like for the tight end.
Engram looked like a bust to begin his career with the Giants.
But, he has since changed the narrative on himself in Jacksonville and has turned into a valuable player.
