Detroit Lions fans received some shocking news today.
Four players, including first-round pick Jameson Williams, have been suspended for violating the league’s gambling policy.

The talented receiver is joined by Quintez Cephus and Stanley Berryhill, C.J. Moore, and Washington Commanders DE Shaka Toney.
Notably, Toney, Cehpus, and Moore can all reapply for reinstatement after one year, although the Lions announced that they were set to release both players shortly after the news broke.
As for Williams and Berryhill, they were only given a six-game suspension each for mobile betting at Allen Park, even though the investigation showed that they didn’t bet on NFL games.
Notably, ESPN reports that the Lions had been aware of this investigation for a month, adding that they fired multiple staff members across the organization for violating this policy.
NFL players, staff members, and personnel overall cannot place wagers on any NFL-related activities, or place any sort of bets while at a team facility or work-related trip.
Williams was one of the most hyped prospects coming out of college, but he was limited to just six games in his rookie season after recovering from a major knee injury.
The Alabama product is still expected to have a prominent role in the offense with Amon-Ra St. Brown as the team’s No.1 option in the passing game, but the fans will have to wait for a little longer to watch him back on the field.
