The NBA has put itself in a tough spot regarding player suspensions.
It all started when Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green was suspended for stepping on Domantas Sabonis.
Looking at the video it was clear that Sabonis was holding Green’s ankle before Green decided to stomp down.
While you can debate if it was intentional or not the league took Green’s history into account and suspended him.
Then in the Philadelphia 76ers’ game on Thursday, Joel Embiid was seen kicking Nic Claxton in the groin area.
But, he only did so after Claxton stood over him.
Sixers head coach Doc Rivers believes this is starting to become a problem.
He mentioned how the league should not have suspended Green.
Also, Tim Bontemps reported that Rivers thinks teams may start to target players in hopes they retaliate.
Rovers says he’s concerned about teams targeting players and trying to get them to retaliate in these situations moving forward. https://t.co/wKcGEUZZRe

That is a legitimate concern for Rivers as Claxton stood over his best player hoping Embiid would retaliate.
Embiid got hit with a flagrant foul after the kick, and he was lucky not to be thrown out of the game.
It will be interesting to see how officials handle these types of problems as the postseason goes on.
Ejecting some of the best players or suspending them does not seem like the way to go.
Green got the short end of the stick simply because of his history of questionable acts.
Hopefully, the officials can do a much better job of solving the confrontations without throwing someone out of the game.
