The New York Knicks found a true gem in Jalen Brunson.
They faced plenty of criticism for signing him to such a big contract this offseason, but he’s proven to be worth every single penny already.
That’s why former NBA player Tim Legler tipped his hat off to him, stating that he’s obliterated all expectations about his career, as he didn’t even think he could become a starter on a good team.
“He has obliterated our expectations of his ceiling. … This guy is built for this.”

Brunson had already proved that he was the kind of player who stepped up when it mattered the most.
He did it over and over at Villanova and then with the Dallas Mavericks alongside Luka Doncic last season.
Even so, he was still somewhat unproven, and one could argue that he would never get such a lucrative contract somewhere else last summer.
His father is a part of the Knicks coaching staff, and he’s got close ties to Leon Rose, so people accused them of nepotism when they got him that contract.
Brunson responded by playing with a chip on his shoulder night and night out, and he’s given the team the point guard they’ve been craving for over a decade.
The Knicks are now up 3-1 vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Brunson has been a major part of that.
They’ve been stronger, faster, and way more physical, even holding the Cavs down to just 79 points in one of their matchups.
So, on behalf of all that doubted Brunson when he first arrived in the Big Apple: We were wrong.
