Few teams in the NFL have gone through more of a drastic change during this offseason than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who recently saw superstar quarterback Tom Brady call it quits following the end of the 2022 campaign.
With Brady finally deciding to walk away from the game, the Buccaneers were immediately thrust into a new era, with no telling what the future will hold for the two-time Super Bowl champions.
Despite Brady’s exit, the Buccaneers valued what offensive lineman Tristan Wirfs brings to the table and has made a decision on his future with the team.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Buccaneers have exercised the fifth-year option on Wirfs’ contract.

The future plans for the Buccaneers remain uncertain, as the team may believe it can still compete in a weak NFC South division, as the division title and a playoff berth are very much in play next season.
With Brady heading into retirement, Tampa Bay has turned to veteran journeyman Baker Mayfield to shoulder the load under center for the 2023 NFL season.
Although Mayfield hasn’t proved he can live up to the expectations for a former No. 1 overall pick, the veteran is a decent replacement for Tampa Bay as the team tries to figure out what direction to go from here.
Fortunately for Mayfield, he’ll have one of the best offensive linemen in the league protecting him moving forward, as the two-time All-Pro tackle will be a valuable piece to the puzzle in order to get this offense back on track in 2023.
