Aaron Rodgers is now on his way to the New York Jets after they sent four draft picks to the Green Bay Packers on Monday to make him a member of their team.
It marks the end of an era in Green Bay that started in 2008 when Rodgers replaced Brett Favre as the team’s starting quarterback after, ironically, Favre was also sent to the Jets.
Rodgers was originally the No. 24 pick in the 2005 NFL Draft by the Packers, which gave him one of the longest tenures of any QB with a single team.
In fact, he fell just short of Tom Brady’s record of 20 years with a single squad.

Rodgers spent his first three seasons on the bench learning from Favre, who was a Packers icon in the 1990s and much of the 2000s.
Favre retired in the summer of 2008, only to take back his decision shortly afterward, and when the team let him know that it had committed to starting Rodgers, he asked to be traded, and he was shipped off to New York.
Rodgers’ tenure in Green Bay has been fairly successful, as he led the franchise to a Super Bowl championship in 2010, which was just his third year as a starter.
However, the Packers never reached the big game again, leading some to view his career as a bit of a disappointment, especially considering he had long been viewed as almost being the equal of Brady or being roughly on the same level as him.
But now Rodgers will be playing for a young and intriguing Jets team, rather than an aging and thin Green Bay roster.
