The Carolina Panthers made one of the biggest moves of the offseason by trading up for the first overall pick.

The Panthers are in desperate need of a franchise quarterback, and it appears that they found their guy in this draft.

According to Cameron Wolfe, Panthers coach Frank Reich said the team has decided who they will take first overall.

Panthers HC Frank Reich said GM Scott Fitterer went into his office yesterday & asked him his preferred QB to take with No.1 overall pick.

“It was kind of like a proposal. And I said yes. We have a consensus and we are excited.”

This pick can change the outlook of the Panthers franchise.

They mortgaged a large part of their future to move up to the first slot, and they need to make it work.

It appears, barring a surprise, that the Panthers are going to select Alabama quarterback Bryce Young.

He is the top-rated quarterback in the draft by many and should be a very good NFL player.

The only knock against Young is that he is small.

So some durability concerns come along with him.

But, if he can stay on the field, there seems to be a small chance that he busts.

Carolina is looking for Young to be their quarterback for the next 15 years, given he is the pick.

It would be smart for the Panthers to use the rest of their draft looking for offensive linemen and pass catchers.

They need to support whatever quarterback they take and give him the tools to succeed.

Frank Reich has a history of being a great offensive coach.

So he should have no problem developing their newest rookie.
