The Pittsburgh Steelers are unofficially on the clock, as they hold the first pick in the second round of the NFL Draft.

While the Steelers may have pressing needs at a few key positions, it appears that they might not be drafting as scheduled.

According to Tom Pelissero, several teams have reached out to the Steelers about this pick, likely to take Kentucky QB Will Levis.

The #Steelers’ phone was already ringing for the No. 32 pick before Round 1 ended, per sources.

Multiple teams made calls to teams at the bottom of the first and were believed to be targeting Kentucky QB Will Levis. Now the bidding is underway for the first pick of Round 2.

Despite the pre-draft hype and buildup surrounding him, Levis fell out of the first round.

Whether teams regret passing on him or if they are in search of a different player entirely, the Steelers find themselves in an enviable spot.

This pick appears to be extremely coveted and could command a hefty price tag, given the number of interested teams.

The Steelers conducted a trade of their own during the first round, trading up with the New England Patriots to select Georgia offensive tackle Broderick Jones.

By adding a blue-chip offensive line prospect like Jones, the Steelers made a conscious choice to aid Kenny Pickett’s development.

Pickett was the Steelers’ first-round pick in 2022, the lone quarterback taken in the first round last year.

He was identified as the best candidate to replace Ben Roethlisberger, the team’s franchise starter for many years.

As they look to grow with Pickett moving forward, the Steelers might be willing to move back in the draft to gain additional pieces on their roster.

The draft has provided several surprising picks and storylines so far.

If the first round is any indication, NFL fans are in for a real treat for the rest of the draft.
