The Texas Rangers picked up a much-needed win on Friday night over the New York Yankees.
However, there was a downside to Texas’ 5-2 victory over the Bronx Bombers.
Staff ace Jacob deGrom, who was given an early 5-0 lead was forced to exit in the top of the fourth inning with an apparent injury.
The veteran right-hander lasted just 3.2 innings, striking out two batters, walking one, and allowing one hit.
Texas was forced to turn it over to right-hander Dane Dunning, who ultimately earned the win.
After deGrom’s exit, it was revealed that the Rangers ace had experienced tightness in his right forearm.

This is bad news for the Rangers.
The team gave him a five-year, $185 million contract over the offseason to strengthen their starting rotation and add an ace.
So far, the two-time NL Cy Young is 2-0 in his first six starts with a 2.67 ERA, 45 strikeouts, and a WHIP of 0.76 over 30.1 innings of work.
However, the Rangers may now be without their star right-hander for an extended period of time.
Texas isn’t doomed.
They do have Nathan Eovaldi, Andrew Heaney, and Martin Perez still in the rotation.
But losing deGrom for any amount of time certainly hurts them, especially with the defending World Series champion Houston Astros heating up and coming to within a game of the Rangers for first place in the AL West.
With the win, the Rangers improved to 15-11, but may now be without deGrom for a good chunk of time.
The team will certainly hope that deGrom doesn’t miss too much time.
