The Seattle Seahawks had 10 picks in the 2023 NFL Draft, and many around the league have given them high praise.

While the Seahawks landed a few blue-chip players in the first two rounds, one of their sixth-round selections had their GM grinning ear-to-ear.

As Corbin K. Smith indicates, John Schneider expressed excitement about Jerrick Reed, a sixth-round defensive back.

I don’t know that John Schneider enjoyed talking about any of his draft picks this week more than he did Jerrick Reed.

The Seahawks had two first-round picks, where they took the first cornerback and wide receiver off the board.

Despite those selections, Schneider was especially elated about Reed.

Reed is only 5-foot-9, which is exceptionally small for a defensive back.

However, in his final season at New Mexico State, Reed amassed 94 total tackles, two forced fumbles, 12 defensed passes, and one interception.

The Seahawks believe that he can make an impact on this team despite his size and his late-round capital.

Last season, the Seahawks drafted Tariq Woolen in the 5th round, who turned out to be an impactful addition to their defense.

If Reed has a similar career trajectory, the Seahawks have once again struck gold in the late rounds of the draft.

The Seahawks made the playoffs in 2022, their first season with Geno Smith as their starting quarterback.

Many around the league have pointed to the Seahawks’ draft as positive, especially given their picks of Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Devon Witherspoon.

Will the Seahawks be able to build on their success of the 2022 season, with their new additions in mind?

Schneider believes that they had a spectacular draft, and could make a splash again in 2023.
