After their experiment with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving which was widely seen as a failure, the Brooklyn Nets are moving forward with a rebuilding project.

They unseated head coach Steve Nash months ago and replaced him with Jacque Vaughn, who had been an assistant coach for the team for most of the last several seasons.

On Monday, Vaughn and the Nets let go of assistants Igor Kokoskov, Brian Keefe, and Tiago Splitter.

ESPN Sources: Jacque Vaughn and the Nets are reshaping coaching staff for his first full season as head coach next year, parting with Igor Kokoskov, Brian Keefe and Tiago Splitter. Hawks did same on weekend with staff that Quin Snyder inherited late in season.

Some fans are wondering why Splitter, a former NBA role player, was hired in the first place.

Tiago Splitter was a coach? Man I just love seeing random NBA players from the past all of a sudden be assistant coaches.

Splitter, who was a 6-foot-11, 245-pound big man, played seven seasons in the NBA, mostly with the San Antonio Spurs, where he earned a world championship ring in the 2013-14 season.

This fan has an idea of who the Nets should hire to be on Vaughn’s staff for next season.

He should hire Alex Jensen. He’s one of the best assistant coaches. Just got released by the Jazz’s 1 year coach. Twas because he was part of Snyder’s staff. Maybe Snyder will snatch him up first? Race is on!

But this fan wishes the Nets would’ve hired Ime Udoka, who guided the Boston Celtics to the NBA Finals last year.

Jackie vaugn should not be here it should’ve be Ime

After ensuring rumors that Irving and Durant would be traded last summer, Brooklyn got off to a slow start, then rolled off 12 straight wins in December and early January and were starting to look like a contender.

But then Irving asked out, and he was sent to the Dallas Mavericks.

Durant quickly followed suit, as the Nets shipped him off to the Phoenix Suns.

Although the Nets struggled following the trades, they still made the playoffs, and they now have a cadre of interesting young players, including Mikal Bridges, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Nic Claxton.
