When it comes to sports, Google sometimes tends to have a little bit of fun.
Back in 2017, they updated their website so that when people typed “New York Jets owner” in the search bar, legendary quarterback Tom Brady would be the first thing to appear.
The Boston Red Sox decided to have some fun and get inspired by that trend, creating an image where slugger Alex Verdugo popped up in the images tab when people type in “what is clutch?”
Verdugo has been on a roll lately and has picked up three walk-off hits this season, including last night’s walk-off home run against the Toronto Blue Jays.
On Twitter, the Red Sox posted a screenshot of search results for the clutch question, which indeed showed pictures of Verdugo after his walk-off home run last night.

Verdugo has certainly been clutch for the Red Sox.
He has helped guide the Red Sox to six walk-off wins during his time in Boston, three of which have come this season.
It was Boston’s third consecutive win and sixth in their last 10 games, bringing them to within 7.5 games of first place in the American League East, which is currently led by the Tampa Bay Rays.
The win also pulled the Sox out of a last-place tie with the struggling New York Yankees.
Verdugo was acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Mookie Betts trade, which suddenly doesn’t appear to be as lopsided as it once did.
The slugger has given the Red Sox some memorable moments and is off to a hot start in 2023.
