Before taking on the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the NBA playoffs, Memphis Grizzlies forward Dillon Brooks was considered one of the league’s better defenders and vital to his team’s success.

After going at superstar LeBron James and being embarrassed on the main stage of the postseason, Brooks has gone from a defensive force to a player that the Grizzlies want nothing to do with.

Memphis has informed Brooks they don’t intend to re-sign him this summer in NBA free agency, leaving many people wondering where he might land next season.

On The Big Podcast, Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal recently chimed in on the debate about Brooks’ future in the league and didn’t know if any team will take a chance on the controversial forward via NBA on TNT.

Although Brooks’ actions in the first round of the playoffs were regrettable and costly to his future in the NBA, it’s a bit of a stretch to say the veteran forward will be out of the league next year.

Many talented players of the past have found it difficult to rebound from injuries or behavior issues, like DeMarcus Cousins, Michael Beasley, and Isaiah Thomas, but it’s hard to say Brooks is in that category simply for disrespecting James.

However, the real question is how do teams in the league view Brooks moving forward, and do those teams ultimately think he’s not worth the trouble in signing, even if for one year.

Brooks will have to prove himself where he goes, as it’s doubtful he’ll get a deal beyond one season.
