The San Francisco Giants got a major boost when they called up infielder Casey Schmitt from Triple-A Sacramento.

The 24-year-old got off to a good start on Tuesday when he made his MLB debut against the Washington Nationals.

He hit a home run for his first career hit and finished the game with two hits.

On Thursday, the Giants headed to the desert to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Schmitt got the Giants started early, hitting a two-run homer to give the team an early 2-0 lead as part of a four-hit night.

On Twitter, the Giants posted a video of Schmitt’s two-run jack.

Schmitt ultimately was responsible for driving in three of the Giants’ six runs on Thursday night as the team took the series opener from the Diamondbacks, winning by a final score of 6-2.

The young infielder now has a .667 batting average and an OPS of 2.000 in his first 12 at-bats.

Needless to say, the Giants have gotten a major boost from the arrival of Schmitt and are starting to heat up.

San Francisco has won six of their last 10 games and are now 17-20 on the season.

They remain just 5.5-games back of first place in a weak NL West division and just 1.5 games behind in the Wild Card race.

The Giants are starting to heat up and Schmitt is leading the way as the team inches closer to the .500 mark.

Schmitt has been a spark-plug for a team that has needed a bit of a boost after somewhat of a tough start to the year.
