The Boston Red Sox have been a pleasant surprise this season for their fans.
After finishing in last place in 2022, they are off to a solid start, having gone 24-20 through the first 44 games of the season.
They also are just 7.5 games back of first place in the ever-competitive American League East.
Recently, starter Brayan Bello has been pitching well.
Over his last four starts, he has posted a 1.71 ERA in 21 innings of work while also striking out 23 batters.
In each of those games, the Red Sox have found a way to win.
On Twitter, a Red Sox analyst posted some of Bello’s stats and made a bold comparison to franchise legend Jon Lester.

Like Bello, Lester was a homegrown starter.
He won the clinching Game 4 of the 2007 World Series and quickly became one of the top pitchers in all of baseball.
Lester also helped the team win a title in 2013.
Bello is still quite early in his career.
However, he certainly has pitched well over his last four starts and was once a highly-touted prospect within the Red Sox organization.
Bello is now establishing himself as a reliable and steady presence in a Red Sox rotation that so desperately needs some starting pitching help.
The young right-hander could certainly help with that as the Red Sox look to bounce back from their second losing season in the past three years.
Bello is 3-1 on the season and owns a 4.45 ERA, but is quickly turning into a reliable starter for the Red Sox.
