Over the past few months, rumors have been swirling around the NBA about James Harden’s future with the Philadelphia 76ers, as he’s set to hit free agency in July.
Although the 76ers were successful this season, with the team reaching the second round of the NBA playoffs and Joel Embiid winning NBA MVP for the first time in his career, Harden rumors persisted, as many believe he’ll end up back with the Houston Rockets.
The Rockets have a promising young team and recently hired Ime Udoka to be their new head coach, but being competitive or a team close to competing in the Western Conference, even with Harden, is a stretch.
Despite that being the case, the consensus is Harden values money and being comfortable rather than winning at the highest level, which would lead to an exit to Houston, but he’s reportedly torn on his upcoming decision.
If the Rockets can’t get Harden back in Houston, the struggling franchise could take a shot at bringing in superstar guard Kyrie Irving, according to NBA insider Marc Stein via Kyrie Center.

Much like Harden, Irving will hit the open market next month unless he quickly agrees to a new contract with the Dallas Mavericks and remains Luka Doncic’s teammate moving forward.
However, there’s been no clear indication of what Irving intends to do with rumors linking him with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Although the smart move for Irving would be to stay in Dallas and try to build something Doncic, the superstar guard is about as unpredictable as any player in the league and usually does whatever he wants.
