In sports, there always seems to be a Cinderella story, whether it’s a player who has overcome incredible odds to reach new heights or a team that has faced down adversity and passed every test with flying colors.

Last season, the Philadelphia Phillies were that story in Major League Baseball, overcoming a 22-29 start to reach the postseason as a Wild Card and cruise all the way to the World Series.

This year, it may be the Cincinnati Reds.

After barely missing the postseason in 2021, they took a major step back in 2022, losing 100 games.

However, several young stars, including Elly De La Cruz have reached the majors and are making an impact on the team.

On Twitter, Jon Morosi pointed out that the Reds could be the next feel-good story in baseball.

The @Reds are 4-2 since Elly De La Cruz debuted.

They are 4 games back of 1st place after series wins over the Dodgers and Cardinals.

The Reds were projected to be locked in a battle for last place in the NL Central with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

However, the Reds have been a major surprise this season.

Young stars such as De La Cruz, Hunter Greene, Andrew Abbott, Alexis Diaz, and others have helped them seemingly get back on track.

As Morosi notes, the Reds are now only four games back of first place in the NL Central, despite owning a record of 31-35.

But after series wins against the Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati is within striking distance in a weak division.

They are also 4-2 since calling up De La Cruz.

The Reds cannot be overlooked as we approach the halfway point of the 2023 season and could be an interesting team to watch at the trade deadline.
