On Sunday, the San Francisco Giants were firing on all cylinders against the Chicago Cubs.

San Francisco was looking to avoid a sweep after having almost allowed Kyle Hendricks to toss a no-hitter in the previous game.

The Giants busted out for 13 runs and defeated the North Siders by a final score of 13-3.

With the game out of reach in the ninth inning, San Francisco turned to Brandon Crawford to pitch in an attempt to save their bullpen.

Crawford tossed a scoreless ninth and secured the win.

After the game, the veteran shortstop made a hilarious comment about his rare feat and what he tells his pitchers about doing what he was able to do.

Crawford joked that he always gives Giants pitchers a hard time about it not being too hard to throw a scoreless inning.

He also said that with his scoreless inning, he proved that it wasn’t too difficult of a task.

Crawford walked former Giant Mike Tauchman and allowed a base-hit to Nico Hoerner.

But he settled down after allowing the two runners to reach.

He got Christopher Morel to ground into a force out before Ian Happ and Trey Mancini both popped out to end the game.

So while it really wasn’t that easy of a task for Crawford, he still managed to get the job done and secure the win for the Giants, helping them avoid a sweep.

Position players pitching has become more commonplace in recent years, especially when teams want to save their bullpen.

The Giants were able to do that on Sunday.
