The Arizona Diamondbacks were not a team many people expected to be good this year.
But through the first two months of the season, there are not many teams better than the D-Backs.
One reason for their breakout season is the emergence of their young players.
Last season the Diamondbacks had the number-one prospect in baseball in Corbin Carroll.
He got called up late in the season and played 32 games.
But this season Carroll has taken a leap forward.
The 22-year-old is hitting .308 with 13 home runs, 33 RBIs, and 19 stolen bases.
His hitting alone makes him one of the most valuable players in the NL.
According to Baseball Reference, Carroll is third in the NL in batting WAR with 3.1.

Carroll is joined on this list by Ronald Acuna Jr., Freddie Freeman, and Mookie Betts.
That is a great list to be a part of for the rookie.
Arizona has a 40-25 record this season and is tied for first in the National League.
It is only a matter of time until Carroll is firmly in the NL MVP conversation.
Many people are waiting for the D-Backs to come back to earth.
Whenever a team outperforms their expectation, fans tend to think they are a fluke.
But Carroll is certainly no fluke, and he is leading this new-look Diamondbacks team.
Many MLB stars flourish in their early 20s.
Carroll is the next young star in the MLB and fans should start buying into the 2023 Diamondbacks.
