There has been a lot of buzz about the upcoming 2023 NBA Draft, with French phenom Victor Wembanyama, the expected No. 1 overall pick, being the most hyped player coming into the league since LeBron James in 2003.

With Wembanyama being arguably the most exciting and talented young player we’ve seen in quite some time, the consensus is that he’ll instantly be a superstar and help turn around the NBA franchise that drafts him on June 22.

The San Antonio Spurs currently have the No. 1 overall pick and are expected to take Wembanyama, but then things get interesting in the draft, with Scoot Henderson being the next potential star available.

On Monday, Shams Charania of The Athletic dropped a rumor about the New Orleans Pelicans wanting to trade up in the draft to bring in Henderson.

With the Zion Williamson experience not going as planned in New Orleans, the team seems adamant about winning now rather than later to take advantage of this talented young roster led by Brandon Ingram.

The acquisition of Henderson would be a solid step in the right direction for the Pelicans, as it would significantly increase this team’s chances of competing, moving forward with or without Williamson on the floor.

It seems Williamson’s antics off the floor and his inability to stay healthy have motivated the team to address the immediate future, and going after Henderson might be the way to go, even though he’s unproven and still a gamble as he’s not a great shooter in a league dominated by three-point shooting.
