Back in 2014, Jokic was the 41st overall pick in the draft.
Many people didn’t think he’d be a big deal.
Now, years later, he is the biggest deal.
After a season of averaging 24.5 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 9.8 assists, Jokic had a postseason with 30 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 9.5 assists.
As usual, he was the best player on the floor.
And, as usual, it also seemed like he didn’t even break a sweat.
Jokic is definitely the most influential and successful NBA star from Serbia but he’s not the only one.
Boban Marjanović, Bogdan Bogdanović, Aleksej Pokuševski, and the young Nikola Jović all come from Serbia as well.
Additionally, other stars like Vlade Divac, Peja Stojaković, and Darko Miličić have hailed from there too.
But there is no doubt that Jokic is the best of the best when it comes to Serbian stars.
He has raised the profile of his team but he has also raised the profile of the country too.
Now that he has claimed victory in the Finals, Jokic will surely return home to enjoy a well-earned summer break with his family, friends, and the horses that he loves so much.
Serbia will be welcoming him with open arms and lots of pride.
