The Kansas City Royals were not expected to be good this season.
But they were also not expected to be the worst team in baseball.
Yet, that is exactly where the Royals are headed.
It seemed like the Oakland A’s were going to be the worst team in the league.
Yet, the Royals continue to jostle them for that crown.
Over the last eight days, the A’s and Royals are headed in opposite directions.
As shared by Codify, the Royals are 0-7 over the past eight days while the A’s have won seven straight.
MLB team records, last 8 days:

Now the Royals have the fewest wins in the MLB with 18.
Their 18-49 record has them in a spot where they might challenge the 1962 Mets for the worst record in the modern era.
That Mets team finished 40-120, and the Royals are on pace to finish right around there.
Heading into the season the Royals did not have an awful roster.
They had a few good players and a young core that was supposed to help them win games.
Players like Bobby Witt Jr., Vinnie Pasquantino, and Nick Pratto are all cornerstones of this franchise.
But none of them have been able to make enough of an impact to help their team win.
One spot where they consistently struggle is with pitching.
Kansas City has the second-worst ERA in baseball at 5.17.
They can benefit from developing more young starters and building a respectable rotation.
The Royals will be a team to keep an eye on over the reminder of the season, mostly for the wrong reasons.
