On Friday morning, the Golden State Warriors announced that Mike Dunleavy Jr. would be the new general manager for the storied team.
The big promotion wasn’t a huge shock as he has been involved with the organization for years, even working directly below former GM Bob Myers.
Dunleavy’s closest friends and peers came out to celebrate his success after the announcement.
Former NBA star and current analyst Jay Williams used to play with Dunleavy during their time together at Duke.
He hopped on Twitter to send his congratulations with a throwback picture of their legendary college days.

The 2000-01 Duke men’s basketball team was a terrific one.
They pushed through the competition and eventually won their third national championship.
Williams was a huge part of that success and he grew a close bond with Dunleavy during that time.
Now, they have both found big careers after playing basketball.
Dunleavy’s next steps will be important and he has his work cut out for him.
He is taking hold of a Warriors organization that is attempting to get back on track after a troubling year that saw them struggle during the regular season and then get pushed out of the playoffs by the Los Angeles Lakers.
With aging players, expiring contracts, and a conference that is only getting tougher, Dunleavy will have monumental choices to make.
He has created strong relationships throughout the organization so he has the full trust of the front office and team.
But can he do what is needed to make them champions again?
