There is a major question hanging over the entire Golden State Warriors organization right now.

That question is this: what happens next with Draymond Green?

Green has a $27.6 million player option for the 2023-24 season and could elect to opt out of his contract and test the free agency waters in the offseason.

According to Marc Spears, via NBC Sports, the Warriors think he is going to try his hand at free agency.

Additionally, the Warriors will apparently “do everything in their power” to keep him with the team.

It has been a long year for Green.

Before the season even began, he was in very hot water because he punched Jordan Poole during a practice session.

That was followed by a rough season for the team, as they weren’t able to return to the Finals and ended up being pushed out of the postseason in the Western Conference semifinals.

Throughout the year, fans have been wondering what Green and the team would do.

Did the Warriors really want to keep the aging Green or would they let him walk away?

Apparently, they want him to remain with the team for the foreseeable future.

Green has received his fair share of criticism but he actually had one of the best seasons in recent memory this year.

He averaged 8.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.8 assists in 2022-23.

As always, he remained a crucial part of the team’s culture, despite the Poole incident that started the season.

Everyone has wondered what changes the Warriors will pursue in the summer.

That’s not clear but it looks like they are going to try very hard to keep their defensive superstar.
