The Washington Wizards aren’t likely to keep Chris Paul.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN already revealed that the Bradley Beal trade wouldn’t be official for the next couple of days because the Wizards are looking for a third team to re-route Paul.

With that in mind, Brian Windhorst reports that Paul would prefer a reunion with the Los Angeles Clippers, citing that his family is still living in Los Angeles and the team is a better fit for him.

.@WindhorstESPN thinks a CP3-Clippers reunion would be beneficial if he gets bought out.

“He would prefer to be with his family in LA as he nears the end of his career. … [The Clippers] are the team that may be a better fit for him.” pic.twitter.com/DsC1uGST3V

Windhorst also said that, obviously, his friendship with LeBron James could be a factor to benefit the Los Angeles Lakers in his sweepstakes, adding that the Clippers would have to “work things out” with Russell Westbrook, who’s also expected to re-sign with them.

According to Windhorst, Paul got a $15 million bonus after being traded, so he has more than enough cash to spare to potentially discuss a buyout with the Wizards to become a free agent and sign with any team of his choosing — except the Phoenix Suns, obviously.

Neither the Lakers nor Clippers have enough cap space to give him a lucrative deal, but he’s made plenty of money throughout his career already.

Also, as great a player as he is, he still needs to prove that he can stay healthy after struggling to stay on the court in the playoffs for three consecutive seasons.

Paul has had an epic career, and it would be great to see him retire as a champion, so let’s keep an eye on his sweepstakes and how this story pans out.
