The Cincinnati Reds have been a pleasant surprise this season in MLB.

Many people thought this was a rebuilding year for the Reds and they would be at the bottom of the NL Central standings.

Instead, the Reds have a record of 37-35 and are 0.5 games back of the Milwaukee Brewers for first place in the Central.

Many people did not believe the Reds were for real heading into their weekend series with the Houston Astros.

But after going into Houston and sweeping the defending champs it is hard to not give them credit.

The Reds pulled off this sweep thanks to their bats.

Cincy scored 21 runs in the three games and their young hitters continue to impress.

The Reds have been aggressive to call up their top-hitting prospects who have made a major impact.

Matt McClain, Elly De La Cruz, and Jonathan India have all been great this season.

India has spent the entire year in the majors while McClain and De La Cruz got called up recently.

Still, these moves show the Reds are going all-in to win this season.

There is not a dominant team in the NL Central.

Many people thought the Cardinals would run away with this division.

But they have been the most disappointing team in baseball.

There is a ton of time left in the season, and all five NL Central teams will remain competitive.

This Reds team is a lot of fun and one that hopefully can keep playing well.
