Once Mat Ishbia took control of the Phoenix Suns from former owner Robert Sarver, the franchise headed in a completely different direction with a new sense of purpose moving forward.

Shortly after Ishbia took over, the Suns made a blockbuster trade to acquire superstar forward Kevin Durant from the Brooklyn Nets to join Chris Paul, Devin Booker, and Deandre Ayton in Phoenix.

This trade surprised everyone and rocked the league to its core, as many believed the Suns were the new team to beat in the NBA and could keep that distinction for many years to come.

Unfortunately for Phoenix, the team got beat in six games against the eventual NBA champion Denver Nuggets in the second round, and heads started to roll, with the team parting ways with head coach Monty Williams.

Not long after parting ways with Williams and hiring Frank Vogel to be his successor, the team has made another blockbuster trade to bring in veteran guard Bradley Beal, and Joy Taylor of Fox Sports believes all Suns fans should be happy via Speak On FS1.

On paper, the Suns have a stacked starting lineup and one of the most potent offenses in the NBA, with three players that could put up 40 or more points on any given night.

However, the team has sacrificed depth and stability at the point guard position for another superstar that might turn out to be redundant.

The Suns may have the star power, but the lack of depth on their roster may hold them back from competing with the Nuggets or some of the other top teams in the league.
