The San Antonio Spurs are just days away from getting their hands around the most hyped prospect in NBA history — yes, even ahead of LeBron James.

Victor Wembanyama is ready to take his talents to the U.S., and even though some speculated that he would sit out NBA Summer League to rest and restore his body, that’s not going to be the case.

According to NBA insider Marc J. Spears, the French standout confirmed his intention of playing in the Summer League, adding that the Spurs will face the Sacramento Kings on July 3 in their debut.

Notably, Wembanyama is coming off enduring a long season, as he even made it to the French League championship.

He couldn’t lead his team to a win in the title series, losing to AS Monaco Basket in a sweep, and that obviously left a bittersweet taste in his mouth, and he’s looking forward to some more hooping.

NBA teams usually take things slowly and carefully with their prized rookies, and they could look to take that route with the No. 1 pick, especially considering the injury concerns that will always come with players of his size.

There are some concerns about whether Wembanyama will be able to endure the physicality and physical burden that comes with playing in the NBA, especially in his position, albeit he doesn’t have any history of injuries.

It’ll be interesting to see how much run they give him in the NBA Summer League and whether they’ll allow him to play in every game.
