Usually, having the No. 2 pick in the NBA Draft would be great, but not many Charlotte Hornets fans were thrilled about that.

Victor Wembanyama was the undisputed No. 1 prospect, and the Hornets could’ve used a big man next to LaMelo Ball for years to come.

Instead, they were “stuck” with the No. 2 pick, which any team on Earth would use to land Scoot Henderson, except maybe the Hornets.

They already have a franchise point guard in Ball, so why make it a conflict by taking Henderson when they could get Brandon Miller, who also drew some consideration as the potential second-best prospect in this class?

However, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Henderson is gaining some momentum to go to Charlotte after he met with Michael Jordan and one of the team’s new owners.

The Hornets believe Henderson is a culture-builder, a dog, and a young man with a winning and competitive mindset, and they love that about him.

Miller reportedly had an outstanding showing in his workout with the Hornets, and one could argue that he’s most definitely a better fit, not to mention the fact that his presence wouldn’t necessarily upset their current franchise player.

But Henderson would’ve been the undisputed No. 1 prospect in most classes if it wasn’t for Wembanyama.

He also looks like a generational talent and a young star in the making, and passing on him might go down as yet another of the countless mistakes this franchise has made in the NBA Draft.
