After longtime general manager Bob Myers decided to leave the team, the Golden State Warriors were thought to focus on perhaps their top priority in trying to re-sign veteran forward Draymond Green, who chose to opt out of the final year of his deal.

It appears that wasn’t the team’s first order of business, as the Warriors got to work on what the team could move on the trade market and bring in as a result.

Ultimately, the Warriors landed veteran point guard Chris Paul in exchange for Jordan Poole, who was expected to end up with the Los Angeles Lakers or Los Angeles Clippers after being traded to the Washington Wizards by the Phoenix Suns.

Apparently, the Warriors were also entertaining trading one of their promising young players in the form of Jonathan Kuminga.

According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, Golden State was in talks with the Indiana Pacers to acquire the No. 7 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft in exchange for Kuminga via Hoop Central.

“Golden State also held serious conversations with Indiana about trading Jonathan Kuminga…for a package centered around the No. 7 pick on Thursday.”

Kuminga fell out of the rotation for the Warriors during the NBA playoffs, which led many to believe that head coach Steve Kerr had not been a fan of the youngster and that his future with the team was in doubt.

Although Kuminga wasn’t traded to the Pacers, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that he’s getting shopped elsewhere and could end up playing for another team next season if Kerr truly doesn’t see a way he fits in Golden State moving forward.

It’ll be interesting to see how the market develops for the Warriors and if another move is on the horizon.
